Russian Sage
Perovskia atriplicifolia
Russian Sage is a low-maintenance native to Central Asia. In Austin landscaping, the bushy perennial provides months of soft color through its dreamy blooms, providing visual interest and versatility in your landscaping design.
Watering is easy, too. Russian Sage prefers medium-dry soil. During the initial growing season, it benefits from regular watering to develop a strong and deep root system. However, once established, overwatering can lead to root rot. In Austin, the perennial usually doesn’t need supplemental watering. It’s even drought-resistant, conserving water to thrive when other plants suffer.
